Welcome to the Family Interaction Research Laboratory (FIRL) blog and website. Much of the information I’ll post here will report on research efforts, however, don’t be surprised if some of the posts include information on finding a graduate school, career planning, and other things that are just plain fun.
Let me be clear about my motivation in starting this site. In the 8 years I’ve been at SFSU, I’ve worked with some incredibly talented students and colleagues and it is my hope that this site will serve as a virtual footprint of our research collaborations that survive long after graduation.
Scientific research in the psychological sciences is like stepping in a river — you never step into the same water twice. Each day/semester/year we approach a topic, we arrive at the topic from a different perspective.
We’re approaching the river. Won’t you step in with me?
